Farm to Table Dinner Tours

2016 Farm Dinner-Tour Dates have been set!!:  July 1, July 22, August 12, September 4, September 17th

White Gates Farm, owned and operated by the Letarte Family of Tamworth, NH, offer farm-to-table dinners during the spring, summer, and early fall months. The dinner and tour evenings feature a multi-course farm dinner experience showcasing 100% farm-fresh organic produce and naturally-raised meats, complemented by tours of the farm and its operations.

Set high on the hills of Tamworth, NH, the 110-acre, four-season family farm offers stunning views of the fields and surrounding Sandwich Notch Range. Dinners and tours usually last a couple of hours and entrees are chef prepared and typically served before the sun begins to set behind the White Mountains. Guests often linger to enjoy the candlelight and pastoral setting on the farmer’s porch of the main home.

“We feel a healthy life includes a healthy diet that goes as far back as the soil that the seeds were started in”, remarks Hank Letarte, co-owner with wife Heather since 1982. “We enjoy gathering friends and loved ones around the table for a fresh, seasonal meal made from ingredients produced right here on the farm.”

Farm Dinners begin with refreshing beverages served as guests arrive. Walking tours are then conducted by farm staff and family members, who not only explain daily operations but entertain with tales of life on the farm. Guests can visit the vegetable starter houses, gardens and greenhouses and are given the opportunity to meet cows in the field, pigs in the woods, layer hens, broiler chickens and chicks in the brood house. Tours of the home-designed biodesel operation are also available.

White Gates Farm produces only high-quality beef from a carefully-selected breed of cattle, Blonde D’ Acquitaine. Originating in the Aquitaine district of southwest France, the “Blondes” are one of the most popular breeds in France for their leanness, high growth rate, and flavor. The family currently pastures 20 or so cattle during the summer and stable them with hay during the winter. Their broiling chickens create healthy grass for the “Blondes” as they travel in their moveable pens eating insects and fertilizing the pastures.

“The key is to know the story behind the food—its origins, how it was grown, where it came from, and who grew it.” explains Hank Letarte. “Our dinner tours are a dining experience unlike any other you’ll find, and a unique way to spend an evening in New Hampshire.”

Farm dinners are held on select evenings and begin at 5:30 p.m.  The dinner schedule for the 2016 season is now posted. Each dinner is $75 per person and reservations can be made right away.  A $25 per person deposit is required to hold the reservation.

White Gates Farm organic and natural products are available at the Tamworth Farmer’s Markets on Saturday’s all summer, and on alternate Saturdays throughout the Winter.  They are also available year round at the self-serve farm stand at the farm.

Additionally, White Gates Farm hosts “green weddings” throughout the season. The farm offers its scenic panorama as a backdrop for summer events such as “green weddings” throughout the season. White Gates also produces organic compost and maple syrup, and other value added products such as pickles, baking lard and tomato sauce can be found there as well.

White Gates Farm is located at 2153 Cleveland Hill Road in Tamworth, NH and is owned and operated by Hank and Heather Letarte and Family. They can be contacted at 603-662-7556 or at 603-662-7538.
